He remembers the very day that his dad pulled up in their old Buick with a very bedraggled looking pony riding in the back seat. His grand mother was very upset that his dad has spend $25 on this creature that didn't look strong enough to stand up. The pony was extremely dusty and dirty plus only had one eye.. The name "Dusty" was given to this pony. After cutting off all the shaggy hair and giving him some loving care, Dusty grew into a very handsome pony that would lead the little boy on his path for the future. |
| The
little boy learned to ride Dusty without a bridle or saddle. He rode with balance alone. He
tried to do every thing with Dusty that he happened to see in the old westerns.
He would jump onto Dusty back from a roof top. Dusty would fall at a run, and
could do
airs above ground. His dad didn't geld Dusty until he outgrew him.
Dusty was more than just a pony to the little boy, he was his best friend. The
little boy grew into a young man of sixteen. A neighbor came knocking on
his door.
He told the young man he found Dusty dead. It was after a stormy night. A gate
was blown down by the wind . The young man buried Dusty by hand ,he cried with
every shovel full of dirt. He remembers something that his grandfather told him
years ago, "Be good to Dusty and he will be Good to you". As the
young man became a man he has changed the words but still means the same." Be
true to the horse and they will be true to you". He has held this philosophy
throughout the years. The little boy was me ,Dusty was more than a pony. Yes he was blind in one eye and a pony. But I would put him against any horse I have ridden since. I guess Smokey is about the closest I will come. I see a lot of Dusty in Smokey. I owe Dusty a lot. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be doing what I am doing today. |

Through the years I have been looking for the right round pen. At C&S I found it they are heavy built simple to put together. I have used different major brand names in the past but C&S round pens will out last the round pens I have seen. Click on the link above and see what they are about. You wont find no better product out there.
