A cowboys Journey
It all started many years ago now. A cowboy was at his wits
end, nothing seemed to be going right. He felt like his world was
coming to a end. On a whim, he called someone to find out where
his life was heading. In the conversation he was told he would
move south and he would run into to a woman who isn’t what she
seem to be, but that he will need to do it because it is going to lead
to better things, even thou at the time it won't seem like it.
After a time the visionary told the cowboy you are going
to be moving to California. The first time you go there it will be
to teach something. The visionary didn’t know what the cowboy did
for a living and didn’t know he did clinics. She did know the cowboy
worked with animals then horses came up.
The cowboy reacted "there is no way I am moving to California.
I have heard about those people out there". The visionary wasn’t
backing down said yes you are going to be living in California. On
your journey you will be meeting a Shaman and he is going to play
a major part in your life.
Since the cowboy had some Navajo, according to his grandmother
and Cherokee in him he liked that idea. Years went by he yes he
did end up moving south to work horses. In time he started to do
clinics on the way it was all falling into place. Even the woman who
wasn’t what she seemed was how he got to California because she
booked the clinic.
The cowboy had a yearning for something more in his life but he
never could put a finger on it. As soon as he got off the plane the
first time he landed in California, he had a feeling to come across him
like he never has felt before. He looked around and thought to himself
"this is home, where I belong."
In time he moved to California. His life has made a major change for
the good , he met a wonderful lady and alot of nice people. He forgot
about how he was supposed to meet a shaman. The cowboy and his lady
bought a ranch and it is in a pretty little valley. Together, they helped
rescue and train many horses from all across the country.
When they started to buy hay by the truckload, the cowboy noticed
funny things starting to happen at the ranch. Seeing things that weren’t
there, ghostly images, hay mysteriously falling off the truck, and his dog barking at things
like the truck, when nothing was there. The Cowboy has raise all kinds
of animals thru his life and never had a problem saving all kinds baby
animals. Well nothing that was just real young at the ranch would live.
They lost a few young animals all under the age to two months and in their
grief, felt that for some reason, babies were not allowed to live there.
Eight months earlier, they had adopted a crippled wild burro from the BLM
and found out she was pregnant. The Cowboy didn’t want to lose another
baby. For some reason they called the local Indian Reservation and asked
for a Shaman to come out and bless the ranch.
Well the story starts to unfold. Three Indian shaman came to the ranch.
They told the cowboy that a baby had died here long ago, and they had
put the stack of hay on top on where he was buried and where their
hut was. He said that the ranch was located where an Indian village
used to be. The shaman prayed, burned sage and fanned the smoke with
Eagle wings. During the cleansing ceremony, the horses were running
around and jumping all over the place. One dog started barking at
the doorway to the barn and wouldn’t go near it.
After the ceremony was over with, the cowboy was told what had
to be done. buildings moved, haystack moved, and he took care of it
quickly, doing everything the shaman said to do. During this time the
cowboy got real sick but he still did what needed to be done. The
day that he finally finished everything, all of a sudden he was feeling
better. In the process of cleaning some things up he found proof
that there was a village here to back up the shamans story.
Since then, the cowboy found out from historians that there was alot
of blood shed around the ranch because the white men wanted
the Indians land and whole tribes were slaughtered. He learned
more about their culture and has made some more friends. The
cowboy has been adopted by the local Indians. The burro delivered
a healthy jack baby who was again blessed by the Indians and named
Jiminy Wakan Tengalkat, an English/Sioux/Luiseno name in honor of
the newfound friends.
It is a shame what has happen to the Native Americans in the past. We
took their culture away from them and their language for the only reason
to make them like the white man. Instead of respecting them for what
they are and learning from them, the white man had to conquer them.
So now the cowboy's circle has been complete, but the journey still goes
on because the circle never ends and the real journey is just beginning.
No matter what our race is, we need to learn we are all brother and
sisters. That all creatures are special, no matter how small or big.
If we practice that, the world would be a better place. We should show
respect to living creatures. Of course first we have to respect ourselves.
I have seen to many times how we blame other people for our
actions. After a time, it is up to us to change our lives and stop
putting the blame on someone else. People turn to drugs and
alcohol to hide from themselves and their problems, but in reality
it just makes thing worse.
I hope when it is time for me to meet the great sprit in the sky
I will leave this world a better place. That is all we can do, not worry
so much about the time we have on this earth,
but how we use the time
